New Forest Brass Training Band

New Forest Brass Training Band meets at Hounsdown School on Tuesdays from 6.30-7.30pm. The training band was formed in 2012 with the aim of encouraging more people to take up brass playing as a hobby. In April 2013 the band gave their first public performance, followed by a very successful performance at our Last Night of the Proms Concert in October 2013.

Since then the training band has continued to grow and improve, and now is larger than the main band! Since 2015 the training band has taken part in the Wessex Training and Youth Band Festival in Downton, and in 2016 were delighted to be awarded second place.

All players of any age and any standard are welcome to come and learn how to play a brass instrument and to enjoy playing in the company of others. The training band currently has members from a wide range of ages, from 10 years old to adult, most of whom have only been playing for a short time. Music tuition and coaching is provided by our experienced musicians.

The band has instruments available for loan to training band members. Available instruments include cornet, tenor horn, flugelhorn, baritone, euphonium, trombone, and Eb bass.

If you are interested in finding out more about the training band or would like to come along to one of our rehearsals to see what we do, then please contact us via the email address below.
