The band currently have two regular rehearsal locations in Marchwood village centre. Our primary home is in Marchwood Village Hall, but we also use the music room in the adjacent primary school when the Village Hall isn't available. At present, we tend to use the music room on the second Tuesday of every month. (If you arrive to find that we're not in one place, check the other...).
Getting to the village hall/school, if you're not familiar with the village, can potentially be confusing. We've therefore provided a map and directions to help you out - click on the controls to zoom and pan around the local area. The Community Hall is marked with a target.Navigate to Junction 2 of the M27, then turn off to take the southbound A326. Follow the A326 (The 'Totton Western By Pass'), going straight over each of a series of 4 roundabouts. Following a merge with the Marchwood By Pass, take the next road on the left 'Staplewood Lane' - it should be signposted to Marchwood village. Following the short drive along Staplewood Lane, you should soon encounter a cross roads - turn right into Long Lane. Follow Long Lane to the end, then turn left into Hythe Road. After a railway level crossing, take the second turning to your left into Vicarge Road, just before you reach the 'Roebuck' pub - you should see a sign for the Marchwood Village Hall. Follow the road round into the car park at the back of the shopping precinct (not the residents' area) and the hall (and school, if we're there instead) should be visible.
To navigate from Southampton city centre, first make your way to the Western Esplanade (dual carriageway between the Central Station and Toys R Us) and head west out of the city. Continue straight along the dual carriageway (which becomes, in turn, 'Mountbatten Way', 'Millbrook Road', 'Redbridge Road', 'Redbridge Causeway' and 'Totton By Pass') crossing straight over all sets of lights. After traversing two flyovers and a bridge over the River Test, you will arrive at the 'Rushington' roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first left into the Marchwood By Pass (A326) and follow the road until you reach a set of lights. Here you have a choice of routes:
a) Carry straight on at the lights, following the road until it merges with the Totton Western By Pass. Then follow the directions as for 'Travel From The M27' above. This is the most direct method, but can be prone to delays.
b) Turn left at the lights (there is a filter lane which rarely, if ever, has a red light) into Jacob's Gutter Lane. Follow the road (which becomes 'Marchwood Road' and 'Bury Road' along its course) until you reach a roundabout. Take the second turning into Main Road and follow the road through Marchwood village until you arrive at a 'T' junction. Take the right turn, then, after passing in front of the Roebuck pub and shops, turn right again into Vicarage Road. Follow the road into the car park at the back of the shopping precinct, as mentioned above.
