Like many bands throughout the country, one of the band's annual commitments is to provide the music for a local Remembrance Day event. This year, as last, we played at the service in Totton town centre hosted by the Totton & Eling British Legion. Amazingly, the weather proved kind, ensuring a good public turnout.
The second job of the day was another regular for the band - this time an afternoon concert hosted by the New Forest Rotary Club in the Lyndhurst Community Centre . The band were required to perform for just 30 minutes, with other acts - singers/dancers - due to complete the show. Our programme, of an intentionally light nature, included The Lincolnshire Poacher, Disney Fantasy,Georgia On My Mind (soloist : Ted Read) and Keep Smiling Through. The Piper In The Meadow, complete with our special ending, was performed as an encore and appeared to capture the imagination of the sizeable audience, even if it did confuse some of the organisers.
